The crash took place late Monday, Feb. 17 on Route 121 in Bedford when the horse had gotten loose and was in the roadway, said the Bedford Fire Department.
According to the department, a second loose horse was cared for by members of the fire department.
A firefighter on the scene involved with the equestrian community was able to contact a veterinarian to come to the scene to care for the second animal.
With the owner located, the veterinarian and owner were assisted by the department to get the horse back to its barn.
There was no word on the condition of the driver.
